Frequently Asked Questions
How much does it cost?
Each session is £50, payable in advance either via PayPal or BAC. My fees are carefully considered to reflect my level of training and experience.
How long is each appointment?
If we agree to work together after the initial, free consultation the next appointment will be your assessment which can take more than one session depending on your needs. The assessment is an integral part of therapy and a good way to start our professional relationship.
All following appointments are 50 minutes.
How long will I need counselling for?
This is difficult to know until we have completed the assessment. It is a period decided on by both of us and I understand that some people can be restrained by their finances.
Generally it can last between 6 - 26 weeks, but some people may feel they prefer ongoing support.
Where will it take place?
I have a home office in Whatton, near Bingham and Grantham but I am currently only working online due to the current COVID19 restrictions. If you start counselling now and are still in treatment when the situation improves, we can switch to face-to-face if that's what you would prefer or remain online according to your wishes.
Isn't online therapy less effective?
It was originally believed that this was the case but research over the last 10 years suggests otherwise. Research has revealed that people are more likely to disclose more when online making the process quicker. However, my prefered mode of working is face-to-face as it is where most of my experience lies. My role as your counsellor means finding the right type of therapy for you.
