Therapy that works with you, not on you

Integrative Psychotherapist in Tong

Welcome, and thank you for visiting Buttercross Counselling

I'm an Integrative Psychotherapist with over 16 years' experience supporting adults through life's challenges. I offer a warm, collaborative, and non-judgemental space where you can explore whatever has brought you to therapy at a pace that feels right for you.

I have a particular interest in working with trauma, anxiety, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, and neurodiversity, including autism and ADHD. My approach is neurodivergent-affirming, trauma-informed, and tailored to each individual, recognising that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy.

Counsellor in Hillhead, Tong

Before moving into private practice, I worked within NHS community mental health services and have experience supporting people with complex mental health needs.

Alongside my professional training and experience, I also bring relevant lived experience. I understand that healing isn't always a straightforward process and that feeling truly understood can make a significant difference.

My lived experience informs my empathy and understanding, while my clinical practice is grounded in evidence-based, ethical, and trauma-informed care.

About Counselling and Psychotherapy

I believe therapy works best when you feel safe enough to be yourself. My role isn't to analyse you from a distance or tell you how to live your life, but to work alongside you with curiosity, compassion, and honesty.

People come to me for help with a wide range of concerns. I have experience working with:

  • Trauma and complex PTSDincluding childhood neglect or abuse, developmental trauma, and traumatic grief.
  • Depression and anxietyparticularly where these are rooted in early relational experiences.
  • Neurodiversity including working with autistic and ADHD clients, especially those navigating late diagnosis or masking.
  • Relational difficultiesincluding challenges with boundaries, trust, or emotional regulation.
  • Identity and self-worthsupporting clients in building a stronger, more compassionate relationship with themselves.

My approach

My approach is integrative, meaning I draw on a range of therapeutic models to suit you rather than expecting you to fit one particular way of working. I am trauma-informed and neurodivergence-affirming, recognising that many difficulties are understandable responses to our experiences, relationships, and environments rather than signs that something is "wrong" with us.

Working Together

Together we'll explore not only what is happening in your life now, but also the patterns, beliefs, relationships, and nervous system responses that may have developed over time. Alongside insight, we'll focus on practical ways to help you feel safer, more connected, and better able to navigate everyday life.

Getting Started

I value authenticity and believe that the therapeutic relationship itself can be an important part of healing. You don't need to mask, have all the answers, or know where to begin. We start wherever you are and move at a pace that feels manageable for you.
